No I think from my experience that polys play better at low tension as snap-back is greater hence more spin at lower tension.
Has something to do with the fact that they arent stretched as much by stringing a higher tension so.

Ive heard of using a proper tensioned wheel spoke to compare the pitch to use as a starting point but are there any other ways to get the tension close?

Just got a little box in the mail. here are the insides.
the tensioner itself is made from one solid piece of machined aluminum. it has a tension rod that is threaded into the top of the tensioner body. it twists up and down to get the desired tension...

For half-mil thick film, it would be half that....
Tension settings always lbs per linear inch, 1.0 mils thickness, and 30" web width, the value for tension is 30 lbs.
We print on Poly and i try to keep it as simple and standard as possible .
