My Friend tested negative for hiv but the nurses told her to follow up with a hiv/aids clinic to be re-tested? should she be worried if the test came back negative

Assuming you mean there has been some type of exposure to an HIV+ individual- A negative test to be clear- I am NOT saying your friend will ever test positive for HIV.

Most people who have a "potential" exposure did not even have an exposure. But your test proves you don't have HIV Acute hiv infection

After 3 months, further testing is not needed..
The testing guideline states 3 months, or later, gives a conclusive result.

Already got the test and actually....
HIV 2 is in America but in very low numbers.It's very common Common cold afterwards and I know that's no risk for HIV but my mental health has gone down with worrys and what not.
Glad it looks for both.

your symptoms not going with symptoms of acute HIV infection,but this not exclude that you dont have HIV,you cant depend on symptoms for diagnosis of HIV infection,and you can test 4 weeks after last unprotected vaginal test,i suggest DUO test ...

You never had an exposure. HIV is not transmitted by oral sex and you had protected vaginal sex.

A mate of mine has just had a rapid test for HIV. It came back negative, and he is really relieved.
It only took a little while, he didn't have to wait for a week and still got all the counselling and support.

Can someone clear this up for me ... ive heard this can happen but im wondering if they were refering to the possibilities of pairing hiv 1 and 2 or if you can really have more than one hiv 1 subtype at the same time ... particualrly those in the M group...
