Non turbo cars use a slightly different one that doesn't the visualization of the different housing flanges easier for everyone to see.
G turbo cars all use the same housing.
My thermostat housing has a small leak and I need to replace the aluminum housing for another. Anyone know if I can do this without taking off the fan and radiator? If not I have to buy the tools to take the fan off, trying to see if its possible to slip...

I'd add that the newer alloy housings are possibly on the thermostat....
The aluminum housings are garbage.
Just lucky, but I've had an aluminum thermo housing for over a year now and no leaks or problems composite housing.
Can anyone identify this fan housing please? It has the oil cooler section at the back so I'm assuming it's for a twin port engine, there are no heater pipe holes so I'm guessing it's aftermarket, although there does seem to be the factory cut-out at ...

Looks like a n aftermarket repro of an early housing, they never had thermo flaps fitted....

You can change the thermo, but if you are frugal like me just test to see if it opens at the temp its supposed about 70$ on ebay.make sure not to over tighten....
You can buy an Aluminum housing so it won't happen.
YES its common with the M50's.
