I have most of my small block together, finally. A few days after I installed the thermostat housing my father suggested running the car the first time w/o the thermostat. He had a radiator hose blow off his corvette during break-in and said the two things...

Thanks Bill.
Run a thermostat.
So, when I did my swap, I followed QPENG indication of connecting the hose that comes from the t-stat to the top of radiator. But I have always running low temps on the car. I though it was the thermostat, so I bought a new one. I took the old one out...

Jason.
Your not pre filling the cooler? I pre filled my rad oil cooler combo .
Late last year I had my thermostat housing gasket replaced because it was leaking, now the housing seems to have developed a hairline crack. Anyone done a DIY on this? It doesnt look too difficult to do, just getting in there might be a problem without...

I suppose this is fine as my thermostat....
It comes with a new thermostat as well.
What the heater element does ? @Craig The heater element opens the thermostat quicker if you drive, but unfortunately you cant just buy the housing.
Does anyone have a 82degree thermostat in their BA XR6? Did you find after swapping them that it stayed in warmup mode and used alot of fuel a while longer than it should? I found today that the petrol gauge was on half way and then withing 2km dropped...

The thermostat opens up fully (quite rare unless a hot day and parked up), only then is it up to the size to replace the seal, when putting in a new thermostat? im putting one in tomorrow, so just need to know car will be flash tuned....
So i'm pretty sure my thermostat has gone bad, just judging from past vehicles, my temp gauge shouldn't be jumpin up and down so much. On your guys' trucks, when it gets to 190 does it stay at 190? Mine is raising and dropping from like 165ish to 190 ...

Mine did that so i put a new thermostat in and its still driving it moves around between say 170 and 2....
Once it opens a few times though it should stay pretty consistentthese trucks just take a while to warm up.

1988 Bayliner 5.7 OMC engine thermostat? Hi, I have a 1988 Bayliner 5.7 OMC engine. It has a Holley aluminum intake manifold. I took it apart to check the thermostat. But there was no thermostat. The original OMC thermostat will not fit in to the intake...

There....
So with a Marine Thermostat, there's other ports that come off and go to the Exhaust manifold, and the auto style doesnt so that's a concern.
