I've got Thinkpad X61 (model 7674-gs3 ). I've got an empty MiniPCI slot (which in other models is filled with WWAN or Intel Turbo Memory)... so I thought I could try inserting an SSD disk there, for example one of OCZ MiniPCI SSD disks .

I just wasted money.
The free slot in the X61 is a single sided card for WWAN or WLAN.
I haven't tried it with a Thinkpad, but I have tried various Mini PCI / Express type cards-PCIe cards.

How does the screen of the x32 compare with the x61's? i'm currently using an x61 when i travel but the screen is too dark. i mostly read documents and check emails on this machine.
about performance, i know it would'nt match the x61 but would it compare...

I can't speak for the X61 specifically, but I've owned several.
I never found neither of them too dark, although screen is in need for replacement .
The screens on X32 and X61 should be comparable.

How much better in hours is the 8-cell than the 4-cell battery, realistically, based on your experience?
I also noticed the battery description when configuring an X61 says "X60"; this is normal?

X60, X60s, X61 and X61s are compatible....
The X61 calls for up to 3.9hr on the 4-cell and 7.8hr on the 8-cell, both in Windows XP, it is normal for the battery descriptions to say X60 when it does indeed work on the X61.
