Anyone have any experience tightening up a chain? I think mine needs to be, because I'm starting to hear and feel a noise coming from that area when I'm riding. I figure I probably need a new one and will work on getting a new one after this weekend. ...

If it's greater than that, you tighten it using the axle as it is the kickstand.
I personally go should be safe to have around 1" of travel .
Delivery delay when you get on the throttle (waiting for the chain to tighten up).
I run 2 link ladder chains on the R4 turfs on my old JD855. I also use 2 bungee cords as tighteners on the outside evenly spaced in 6 places. This fall I put 3 shorter bungee cords on the inside of the wheels. Again evenly spaced in 6 places. I thought...

I just got done changing the oil and the removal of the oil filter that was on there was by far the hardest filter I've ever taken off. When I put the new one on I had to tighten it with a strap wrench to get it to not leak and I think it still will leak...

These trucks do seem unusually hard to get the filter off, even if you didn't tighten it that hard.
Craftsman chain wrench at the top edge of the filter makes it a lot easier and it won't crush the filter.
I got this little press several years ago for a bit less than $40.00. It's handy for smaller holes, I just put it on the bench to use it, then put it back out of the way when done with it. Originally the quill was so loose it would rattle around pretty...

To fix it I marked out and chain drilled.
Was so loose it would rattle around pretty badly.
I have this weird problem that started when my chain was pretty loose. I then tightened the chain and the problem persists. It only jerks/hiccups over bumps or drops when under acceleration or higher rpms (above 5k).* The bike doesn't die then bump start...

Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at gsxr):
You can delink a chain and add links ....
How many links got taken off by the way? Normally just with one is good enough .
If the new links are installed right you should have no problem, just make sure not to over tighten a new chain.
