You have to really ski aggressively to notice much performance difference and 90% of skiers on combos don't ski them....
If on a budget look into close outs and even ebay for deals on used ski combos-for-cheap models ($40-45).

Any time the skis are drilled they get.
Just make sure they're done by a professional shop - filled, epoxied, and redrilled correctly .
Of drill holes, you can still ski them without the slightest worry.

When is the best time to go skiing in Charlotte Pass Australia? When is there the most snowfall, and what is it like in early July?

At Charlottes there is very little snowmaking....
Early July can be OK, but can be a bit dodgy .
July and August are the most reliable for snowfall.
In Australia the greatest snow depth is usually the first week in September, although it is slowly getting earlier .

We'd like to spend 1 wk this winter in Colorado with our 2 kids (3 yrs and 1 yr old). My husdand and I love skiing. We're looking for a nice place to stay, not TOO expensive and convenient with the kids... Any advice? Thanks.

With the possible exception of Arapahoe Basin, all the big ski areas offer childcare on site situation, coming from Chicago....
From the slopes in towns like Dillon , Silverthorne and Frisco , which are all a short drive from the ski deals.
