I'm considering a Synology DS210j NAS which supposedly supports Time Machine out of the box.
Can two Macs both use Time Machine to the same NAS? I know you can do it with Time Capsule, but I'm not sure if there is anything proprietary that enables it....

I just bought a 1TB external drive. I would like to set up time machine to backup wireless. Is there anyway I can do this with the components I have now. Which are 1 macbook osx 10.6, 1 desktop pc running win7, 1 1TB external, and multiple linksys wireless...

Large files, then deleting those files from the backup (either manually, or when Time Machine Machine really needs it.

I use SuperDuper! to backup my Mac (running SL 10.6.1) to my LaCie Rugged Hard Disk .
Because I lock my hard drive away when it's not in use everytime I plug it in it gives me a pop-up box saying:
I always click 'Don't Use' but now it always pops up regardless...

This will stop the prompts.
If you don't use TM at all you can go into System Preferences > Time Machine and turn it off.

Ok, so rotating two disks with Time Machine is rather simple . Probably simpler than using 3rd part to do backups (from this worth reading FAQ about TM) of it.
I actually like to keep half my macbook's disk for TM and I want to add an external disk.

Basis? Using a proper tool like SuperDuper! you would create an exact copy of your Time Machine backup on the external, and it would be recognized by Time Machine's restore function in the event of an HD failure.

Just to be sure: changing the interval won't change what Time Machine keeps the interval to value less than an hour.)

There's many definitions of what up could mean of an application .
The time that machine is running is after "Statistics since ".
I suggest you to use the command line : net statistics workstation and parse the output .

I would like to know if Time Machine log entries have changed in 10.6.x. To answer this would someone who uses Time Machine and is on 10.6 run this command and paste the results?

They're actually very similar, but Time Machine doesn't keep track of what version of a file repository is backed up with TimeMachine!
Time Machine will give you backups of your code and merging, which is a huge help on projects....
