I think the tipping culture is utterly ridiculous. Salaries should be paid by the employer and the consumer should know what they are paying from the off. This culture of expectancy is getting out of control as well. My life has been one long descent ...

there are establishments here who already add a service charge...

Tipping isn't done in the UK for anything other than food and even then we only tip 10%.
tipping in the UK, though, as it's common to tip hairdressers and taxi drivers as well as waiters.

My company is floating the idea of extending our version numbers another notch (e.g. from major.minor.servicepack to major.minor.servicepack.customerfix) to allow for customer specific fixes.
This strikes me as a bad idea on the surface as my experience...
