To repair any tire is with a patch...which any tire repair facility will tell you is superior to a plugYou can laugh, but I've used Safety Seal plugs for 35 years and never had one fail.

Tires really then its irreparable....
Buy a new tire.
So take this with a grain of salt.
Although, to be honest, my background is computers and not tires.
It can cause structural problems with a tire (supposedly).
Won't fix it.

... I don't and wonder if I should? I don't even know how to use one!
And I am not strong enough to put my bike on the center stand to repair a flat even if I had a kit!
I figure I'd just call roadside assistance.

You could use your plugs but they aren't as strong of a repair but may last until the tire wears out.
The best way is to have it patched.

That it is a definite that they wouldn't repair it, and it's only in the tread area they'll consider bringing it to different workshops and see which one will repair it for you.

The GXP has VR rated tires....
The tire is usually salvageable.
The sooner you get it to a repair shop the better! They will need to remove all the sealer goop from the inside of the tire and properly patch the leak and re-balance.

Your best bet is to ask the repair shop for the code and proof difficult on our slower connection).
