I have close to 50 years experience wiping my own bottom and ... .
Most domestic TP holders are free rolling as opposed to those institutional jobs that have to be manually unrolled with a pipe wrench.
My guess is so that it can double as a cat toy .

Be careful as you don't want to possibly damage the surrounding tiles with an attached tile cutting blade .
If not smacking pull the TP holder off the wall.
The way around the outside edges of the old holder--that may pop it loose.

Trivets would definitely magazine holder and put the TP....
Not sure I'd want to "make" a handmade gift for a loved one that they only used while sitting where the current holder is located, so now I gotta "fix" the problem.

Simple question, tp goes OVER the roll, or UNDER the roll? I say OVER, just seems more convenient to me: closer proximity, easier tearing, more efficient tearing of where you want to tear, plus under just looks weird.

I just opened a new package of Northern Tissue, and the roll is noticeably narrow!! It's probably 1/2 shorter than normal. Are we not suppose to notice that they are shorting our rolls because it has the same number of sheets??

We don't have a toilet roll holder.
I don't like the toilet paper dispenser, I think it's too of the toilet.
