I would look into a heater that burns LP gas and lease a small tank from the gas supplier.
We found a nearby source of kerosene and bought the last 75,000 btu torpedo heater they hadDiesel will not burn as clean as Kerosene.

If the torpedo heater are constantly heating up cold outside air whereas when placed inside, the heater is constantly warming up (thankfully not....
Your 24 x 36 space will benifit better with a 75k btu and up heater.

I have a vent-less torpedo ....
My torpedo heater has a 10lb reg pressure, way too high for most other heaters.
Are not created equal !!! DO NOT just hook up your torpedo Reg to the new heater without checking.

My shop is 24x30 i use a 40,000 btu propane forced heater because i didn't want to smell kerosene patton electric heater does just good enough for me to put it near my feet and keep me fairly warm so or better, I really don't even need this....

Never leave a stove on to warm you up when FIRST!! We use kerosene torpedo heaters and propane for the most part.

Wide open a 20lb will last for several....
I have the hose kit to run a large 20lb or bigger tank .
Runs $199 but i get propane heater, with the ceramic elements.
I have the smaller torpedo heater from lowes.
Tool, had very good reviews.
