Looking into trail riding and had a few questions.
What are your must haves before you hit the trail? How do you ensure both you and your horse are safe on the trail? How do you find where you can trail ride?

Like any horse sport, trail riding takes practice-minded people to join you on the trail.
As for being safe: training.

They have some fairly restrictive rules, but there's still....
Also there's Allegheny National Forest.
There are lots of great places to ride in Western PA an amazing trail system in it's own way.
Up with some folks from here for rides.

We are fixing to go to Wyoming and ride Snowy Range and Big Horns. Was wanting to buy a GPS before we go but I do not have a clue what to look for or get. I want one that will show the National Forest Roads as well as trails in that area. We live in Alabama...

I only load the topo's for the areas I am going to ride? If you ride where I do we have hundreds of intersecting trails, when you can only display one at a time you have no idea....
And they are more accurate than the one

I didn't see trail maps either, but I think maybe it's just for you to track using Tapatalk 2 I downloaded it on my Ipod touch.
But don't see any trail maps.

Trying to find a campground to pitch a couple tents and to ride trails over a 2 day period. Don't want to camp and drive an hour to trails, would like to wake up, hop on the bikes, and go for all day-rides. Willing to drive a short distance if needed....

I was suppose to go on a nice trail ride tomorrow. I bathed my horse. loaded the trailer. I noticed a big chunk out of his hoof. He had a nail part way out which I got out. I called 3 farriers and not one called back. I am waiting for my friend to stop...

Experienced a lot of the same thing (I'm 66 yo) just not as bad .

It's pretty much the only place I like riding for some reason.. I mean locally at least. Can't wait for lift service season to start!
