I've started doing some trail running in my Asics Kayano's and although they are great road shoes,
I feel every stone or rock that I step on. I also find I lose traction on steep hills.
I would like to know what other...

Have you also gone for a trail shoe....
At a few trail shoes, and as the article says that a trail shoe is only good where the shoe can get, I noticed in the threads after the article where you wear Kayano's.

I am doing a local 10k trail run at a nearby MetroPark next month. I know it will be hilly and be on either gravel and dirt trails. I see 'trail' shoes for sale and wonder if I really need them or if I'll be okay in my regular running shoes. Is it a "...

My Mizuno Ascends....
It sucks.
This means that if you land on a rock/stick/root, you're more likely shoes on a trail, I have to stop and pick rocks out of my shoes at least every 1/4 mile.
As firm a sole as trail shoes.

I still consider myself fairly new to trail running so trying to learn as I go. I run a decent amount of technical and "out in the middle of nowhere" trails. I tend to be stubborn and run through creeks, mud, muck, etc. So here's my questions to all the...

I'm nearly finished with Born to Run, arguably the trail runner's Bible, and I'm thinking about becoming a "believer" in the barefoot/minimal support thing.
Is anyone here trail running in any of the minimalist shoes? I'd like a little something to protect...

You can use minimalist shoes for trail running so long the special.
And with any minimal shoe make sure, but they are a nice form of cross-training.
On VFF, there are many minimalist shoes as well as huaraches.

I'm posting here at PinkLady's suggestion. I've been running on wooded trails almost exclusively since this May. I quite enjoy it, and intend to continue, even into the winter if I can. So far, I've just worn my usual Asics 2160's, and other than the ...

Hi there,
I am relatively new to trail running and need to upgrade my shoes.
I do have requirements, (as I am sure we all do ) and from my initial investigations find there are way TOO MANY to choose from.
The shoes ...

My 4 year old Merrell approach shoes fell apart just before Christmas so, in the sales, I bought a new pair of ankle gortex Merrells.
They did not last 4 weeks before the sole appeared to cave in and also began coming away from the shoe. So, I returned...

I think when we pony up the big bucks....
I've had cheap shoes that lasted "forever" and expensive shoes last 2 weeks and vice versa.
$20 up to $150.
I've played in all types of shoes.
I'm starting to think it is mostly psychological.
