It's possible to travel....
With a US passport you don't need a visa for Israel, provided you are staying less than three months.
Also - if I was to try to get into Israel from Beirut, does anyone the best way to do this cheaply?

I haven't used a travel agent for years! I would where you live.
I (nervously) booked online the best option and then book direct with the airline .
Specials $500 cheaper than the travel agent so there was no contest.
