I had second thoughts about doing this trigger guard modification. I went ahead with it and belief it came out pretty good.

Fits my hand better.
Taking the hook out of the trigger guard makes reholstering a lot easier, and I think it looks.

Sxs with trigger guard release
I'm looking for recommendations for a 12ga sxs shotun that has a trigger guard release as opposed to the thumb lever release. Any suggestions on a good brand that has something of the sort?

Actually I do like the smooth was that you'd somehow grip the trigger guard and help secure the gun that way, or that you could apply support hand's finger....
With that flat serrated section on the front of the trigger guard.

On a semi-auto, does anybody put their off-hand finger over the trigger guard? I probably need to explain that a bit. The Sig P226/9s, the Hk P30s still have that 'hooked' trigger guard profile. It allows the index finger of the off-hand to be wrapped...

I use a modified weaver stance and typically have my index finger under the trigger guard with both of the trigger guard just to experiment with it and ran quite a few rounds down range in that manner no idea that was the reason....

A guy I work with said he had a colt 1911 made in 1912 without a trigger guard. I called BS on it and he showed up the next day with a pic on his cell phone of it and sure enough no trigger guard on it. And he had a paper from colt with serial numbers...

I wouldn't be suprised if somebody, but from pics you cant tell the trigger guard was cut off it looks like it was made that way.

What is the purpose of (or function for) this? Is it just cosmetic? Is there an actual reason?
My fingertip doesn't reach the front side of any trigger guards, so I'm wondering if (for people who can reach it) there's a rational use for it...

In the meantime, the index finger of....
The index finger of the support hand was wrapped around the front of the trigger guard to add to not be as good as placing that index finger under the trigger guard and pressing upward.
