On Tuesday we leave here to drive to Troon in Southern Scotland.. Early Wednesday morning we catch the ferry to Larne, which is north of Belfast in Northern Ireland. From there we'll make our way south to Dublin - we're booked into a hotel on Thursday...

Mrs B and I took her mother to Ireland a few years ago. Having heard of an ancient abbey on an island in the middle of a lake near Killarney, we made a point of getting out to see it.
Innisfallen Abbey was founded in the year 640 by St Finian the Leper...

Incredibly, I've never been there, so was inspired recently to take a few days driving around the south and middle. Not especially interested in Dublin.
My plan is to go over by train / boat, possibly to Cork, and then pick up a pre-booked hire car for...

Stay away from the obvious tourist spots; can get very busy and are not representative of Ireland - Norhter Ireland is a MUCH better tourist location than the South...

Do you let your liver heal to maximum capacity or start the train rolling toward alcohol tolerance city?

Mine was a more budget trip (hostels and public bus) so I don't of Ireland, Dublin is the only feasible....
I didn't go to the south the the local pub, not many tourists) .
There are so many nice places in Ireland.
Recommend would be great.
