Personally speaking I'd make Pisa a day trip from Florence rather than vice versa - there's far more to see and do in Florence than in Pisa. On the other hand you are on your honeymoon so perhaps you'll find something to occupy yourselves in Pisa ;-) ...

Definitely make Pisa your day trip.
I second Stevegerms suggestion about Pisa ! You really should NOT attempt Florence as a day trip! It's too interesting and beautiful for only part of a day.
