Perhaps you could draw an analogy with strings and regular expressions? You describe what you are looking for, and let the compiler figure out how for itself .

It is currently available for Java and PHP as an Eclipse plugin, so I'm not sure if it really fits your scenario .
It analyzes the code and shows the components and associations in a graphical representation .
NWire does just that.
