In lira from the ATM.
There is lots of good shopping the next day

In Istanbul, the merchants always had a big smile when we said we had lira.

If you click
it looks as if sterling is gradually getting stronger against the lira, which would suggest you should wait.
Will have on the lira and sterling - probably not much as neither is in the eurozone.

The Turkish government issued a new coin on 1st January with a face value of 1 Turkish lira, about 40 cents equivalent. It looks and feels just like a 2 Euro coin so please check your change, folks.
