The obvious one is cost, the price of quality TVs are generally higher then good quality monitor, but the size increase in the TV accounts for that...

I tried to use a 32" TV as a monitor, it didn't last a day before I returned it.
The panel in a 30" desktop monitor.
The pixels on a desktop smaller are much more refined than a TV's.

I had a 27" AOC 1080p TV I used as a monitor ($280).
Get both, use the TV on it.
I use my PC all the time while watching TV.
It's a TV & Monitor.
