I went with Geany : installs out of the box, integrates well with UNR, it's lightweight and supports PHP syntax ... .
Open source, and works well for PHP, JavaScript and Ajax, Ruby and Ruby on Rails, Groovy and Grails, and C/C++ .
Have a look at Netbeans.

Have you tried the -f flag to umount ?
umount -f /home/ilari/storage
Doing someting like this automatically, would involve a little script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ .

It might be bug 349314 , which caused Ubuntu Netbook Remix to be sluggish in a number of netbook models for some time.
