Hi,
I'd like to upgrade Vista home to vista Ultimate on my desktop computer. I have a MSDN subscription, which means I can download just about every microsoft software there is. However, there doesn't seem to be any vista anytime upgrade DVD available...

Ensure you run the installer ....
You should be able to upgrade to Vista ultimate using the standard Ultimate media, you should just the Vista upgrade advisor first to ensure your PC is capable of running Vista Ultimate.

Do you have a Vista service pack installed (SP1 or SP2)? How new is the installation media that you're trying to upgrade....
It seems like this is the problem you're hitting.
The upgrade is supposed to work.
It will do an upgrade.

I have Windows Vista and I have an ISO for Windows 7 Ultimate. Is it possible for the upgrade to complete if I just run the disc as a mounted ISO in my Vista install? Or do I actually need to burn a DVD?

With that one is that I was using a retail boxed version of Vista.

To install the upgrade pack, you'll need to reinstall Vista as no upgrade is possible from any Beta with free upgrades - Purchase Windows Vista now and get a free upgrade to 7 later...

Is a Windows Vista to 7 Upgrade like a clean install? What I mean is, if I do an in-place upgrade, will it act like a clean installation of Windows 7 with all my programs, docs, etc? Or will it still have junk info/data left-over from Vista?

As previously mentioned, the only way to make the upgrade is to do a full reinstall by booting from the CD.
There is no upgrade path from 32-bit to 64-bit that doesn't involve a format and reinstall.
