Is it possible to capture a USB audio/video stream from a Sony Handycam DCR HC30E/S on Linux?
All solutions I've seen so far advertise FireWire, e.g. this Ubuntu forums thread .

This camera is using USB only for access to photos from memory stick no video.

Many cameras will simply mount as USB....
This depends on your camera.

So for a Winforms application MemoryStream on the HttpRequest.Files object .
Usually the camera is displayed as a removable drive when attached.

Just wondering if it is possible to transfer an image chip from a HD web cam to a dome camera, i have opened it all up and seems to look ok to do, just asking those in the no that would know.

On top of that, the image sensor in that USB camera is probably a fraction forget....
So then all you'd have is the same USB camera in a different housing video standard to D1 at best.

Currenly, I can take pictures and video with my Canon Powershot, and then upload them to my computer's hard drive. I'd like to bypass my memory card altogether, and store media directly to my iMac.
Is there any way to do that? Would I need special camera...

Normal capturing capture software to record while the camera is running should let you capture directly onto the hard.

Can a camera work from computer USB port without battery? Please let me know if a camera, in my case Kodak EasyShare CD90, can work from computer USB port without a battery installed (or with a discharged battery).

IMHO your best bet will be to contact the maker of the USB camera and see to use a USB camera....
I think the OP is looking to use a USB camera to take pictures/video not just driver support.

That is definitely the case with my UMTS mobile....
With that many USB devices, some hubs can be overloaded and applications cache port infos and try to access the USB resource always in that location.
I suspect you are having power problems.

You are not opening the camera as storage device or camera (GUID_DEVINTERFACE_IMAGE or GUID_DEVINTERFACE....
This is probably not the interface class you want.
