I just installed a new steering column in my 90 iroc. i used the same key cylinder that was in the car to begin with. i was hoping not to have any issues but know it will not start. i can hear fuel pump come on but im not getting anything from the starter...

Or bypassing....
You ohm the new lock cylinder.
If it doesnt you either fix/replace what isnt working could have fried, or that the problem is on the dash side of the VATS system.
It either works or it doesnt.

Not bad over to my new car i said i had an air bag and vats (vehicle anti theft system), and i saved a ton of unintended overkill....
In for insurance (State Farm) and having the VATS system knocked about $100 off every six months.

The vats ecm to bypass the VATS system is if the following happens(ed):

Got the usual "starting disabled" message that many on this forum had - it's a first for me, though. Only code was a history P020 (open fuel pump circuit), no current codes. Am going to Radio Shack to get the odd resistance values to perform the bypass...

Again ThanxIf you're getting that message, there should be a VATS related code, unless something weird didn't just magically appear.
I got the car off the street, and can order a cylinder that keeps the VATS system intact.

I'm thinking about installing a '94 LT1 into my 87 firebird. My major concern is about bypassing the VATS system. I live in Southwestern Ontario and currently know no one who can reprogram the ECM. Any help is appriciated. Thanks guys!

Thats a start.
The other wire is back to the BCM a lower & the voltage is getting thru .
The vats by pass is sent a 5 volt reference one one wire.
