I recently changed my approach with ripping blurays and DVDs from using VidCoder to MeGUI . Everything is great, and I'm quite happy with the video quality of the rips... Problem is, that my "portable" versions won't work on my Windows Phone 7 anymore...

Did you specify QT compatibility mode in megui for it's muxer? It's somewhere in the options .

X264 MKV's stutter like crazy, and VC1's often don't.
But I guess the CPU demands are far less for this .

You can get MPEG2 DXVA for XP by finding interlaced video and 24fps telecined....
I turned it all off includes VC1 and H.264 decoders of its own for XP/Vista.
Also make sure MLAA is off because it will affect video .
interlaced material.
