Yesterday I started and did the initial break in of my rebuilt motor (325 Dodge Hemi. )
I ran it at about 2500rpm for 20minutes.
Brought it down to idle (about 700rpm ) and set the timing (to about 12btdc ) and adjusted the idle screws.
I was not happy...

In fact, it should make the most vacuum it will ever make now.
If the idle comes up it's a vacuum leak idle like that with new rings.
Use a can of WD40 and spray all of the gasket areas .
And intake.

The vacuum line problem is fixed and now I just have the idle issue.
I have a bouncing idle problem in the 1000-1500 range. The TPS has been adjusted. When started it idles at 2000 RPM and then when it goes to step down it starts the idle bounce when ...

The vacuum routing diagram is the wrong one thats for a 93-95 you need the one for a 96 - 97 is differant then what it supposed to be does that im have a vacuum port on runner #5 next to the pcv port.

Mine sits -20hg when on idle when stationary, if I'm driving and take my foot off completely then it will....
And it will be higher when during lift off due to the engine running higher vacuum when the revs drop -30hg seems too high to me.

I was digging through the service manual and I can't find anywhere that shows what the idle vacuum should be on a healthy I-4 chargecooled motor.

I measured mine and I it's only pulling 10" Hg. That...

That same reading, I think its normal, about 10 in on the vacuum gauge normal.
I think 10" is about normal for a late model 4 cyl Esprit a while back I found approx .
To check for vacuum leaks, mine had a bunch.

I think i have a vacuum leak. my boost/vacuum gauge shows about 9, maybe 10 mm Hg. i am pretty sure it was more like 12 to 15 just last week. also, the AFM reads 16:1 at idle, i know that isn't what i want and that reading was more like 14.4:1 last week...

However is fairly lean.
16 to the DME, it will idle at about 15:1 on the AFM and the vacuum creeps up to about 12.
Your AFR indicates a vacuum leak also, should be bouncing around 14.7afr at idle..
In-hg hot.

I just purchased dashcommand and a gopoint bt1 and the boost/vacuum gauge shows -0,7 bar or 18,00 inHg on idle and around -0,3bar on cruising speed at 2500 rpm. when i put the pedal to the metal it shows the correct 1,3 bar its mapped

My car reads on my 30/30 about 15-16 in hg, and my scanguage reads about 17-18 at IDLE.
Now Ive boost leak tested my car up to 23psi-25 and found no leaks around any lines that are zip tied or pipes. But never...

If these tear, it can cause that issue.
I would look here.
(Grease one end of it.)
Stick that end up to your ear,
and use the hose like an antenna to find the leak sound .
Grab a yank of heater hose.

My car logs high 70s low 80s on the map sensor at idle. While coasting in gear it's down around 50s...engine is 12:1 434ci with a 262/266 624 624 cam. Is this normal for a cam that big?
