Do you add up full replacement including labor and all that, or do you assume you could find used parts, or...?
For me: Car + suspension/sways + close ratio gears + LSD, LWFW, RS clutch, + custom Recaro seats + Euro turbo nose, tail, wing + rollbar.

How do you calculate which car is a better value ?
Assume that the conditions are similar, a 2002 Camry with 180k miles is selling at $5000 vs 2005 with 100k miles is selling at $8500.
My opinion: every year newer the value is increase by $1000 plus 2...

FYI, according to Edmunds TMV, the first car is worth about $4K (private party sale) while the second....
But if you're planning to drive it until the wheels fall off, then it doesn't matter I guess .
It'd be tough to sell a car with 250K miles.

The source of my quandary is that I'm taking around a 700 mile driving trip in a couple weeks and can rent a car for around $80 for the entire weekend (I've looked, it's the best rate, even digging into the car rental thread, being 24 is a bitch sometimes...

I'm going to buy a car and can afford to purchase either a new or used car. I am only interested in purchasing a used car if it's a 2012 or 2011. Since the value of a new car depreciates as soon as it is bought and taken off the lot would it be better...

Is there a second-hand car valuation magazine which gives value for cars older than X registrations? I have bought the latest publication of Parkers car price guide but this only gives valuations for cars as old as 2004.
I need to go back as far as 19...

No, it's a value-add when selling your car but don't expect to get your money back it is installed immediately prior to the sale of the car, I can't see it bumping up the value significantly.

Have almost $20k in my foxbody...using statefarm but they only give book value and i want to up the value to what i have in it. I tried Haggerty but they have to strict of guidelines and i didn't qualify. any help would be great.

Has very few limitations.
I am using Hagerty with a $40k value.
