So half way into the first valve adj. Man how clean the inside of this bike at 22k miles. Notice KTM has the inners of the engine coated with something - probably a spray on but wonder if it's a thermal barrier or what. Anyway -- to the point.

Valves clearances....
Tighter spec clearances be wrong.
I've found the opposite to Klinck that the valve clearance gets bigger over time Usually valve clearance tightens over time but not always the case.
Session alot easier.

The only time I've had them one minute quiet and the next minute tapping (mildly loud) is when the CAM to the head?
Maybe some light engine flush and change it again...for the 3rd time.

Hello-
I have a leaky valve cover gasket that I'll be replacing myself in the near future. Is it worth looking at my valve clearances? Car seems to be running well, 110k miles, getting 23-24mpg all around, in CA. Not sure when they tend to fall out of...

If you're changing out the timing belt at 105k anyway, might as well replace the valve cover and spark plug hole seal gaskets and valve cover bolt grommets while in there, and check valve clearance too.

I know these neoprene gaskets aren't cheap, but if you figure your time in having to do it over (not to mention the subsequent clean-up) if it leaks.
I would and will when it's time to do mine.

The pot is offset in a 12V because the injectors are at an angle and offset to one side whereas the 24V's injector is in the center of the combustion... .
IIRC I have read about people putting 12V heads on a 24V The "pot" in the piston is different between the two .
