There is nothing but the insulation should I use a vapor barrier between the insulation as a vapor barrier? I think there is Dupont sheathing under the siding but not sure.

I only know a few things: : PVA is barely a sheetrock primer- it is certainly not a vapor barrier.

You should never try and rely on paint for a vapor barrier. If you get a crack in a corner or along the floor line or ceiling, bye bye vapor barrier.

Sounds like the OP didn't use the paper-faced insulation....
Walls require interior (warm side) vapor retarder or X" exterior foamboard.

I don't suggest using://www.buildingscience.com/docty...ion-assemblies xps is nice because it provides insulation as well as vapor retardation create as good ....
Inch XPS if you want decent insulation and vapor barrier properties.

Cement board is more porpus than hardibacker, but either way, I would recommend a vapor barrier..
My understanding is that the vapor barrier should be on the warm side of the wall/whatever. around here, that would be the inside. correct ? ok lets say we have that. but i see it recommended that rigid foam on the exterior should be used. wouldn't this...

Hi All, Location is Central Florida. I'm currently rebuilding a tub surround. 2 walls are concrete block , 1 is wood . I plan on just putting up Hardi Backer board and adhereing the tub surround to that . Do I need to put a Vapor barrier ,, AND foam board...

So, by using extruded polystyrene barrier and what side of the insulation it should be on because you don't need a vapour barrier at all.
Means that it doesn't need a vapour barrier on either side of it.
Do I need to use vapor brier with green board in the bathroom ? I will be tiling over green board, I used unfaced insulation under the green board .
