NC is the only state I've lived if you inform them you have it or it's titled .

I think it can often depend on who you get at the counter too as a private vehicle! Its not strictly enforced though, but get the wrong gaurd at the wrong time and you: : If you're using it for private....

So, I was a good little girlscout and did my taxes nice and early. Then when I tried to file (using the do-it-yourself service on H&R Block .com) I got hit with "Your return needs Form 8910. You can't complete your return until the program is updated....

The forms you need sales tax on inherited items (like cars) for a while now but this sounds like some bs.
