Just take your documents to the post office and tax as normal if you have the tax renewal letter it will make it easier. But as said you may still be fined for not declaring it SORN as it is not an option whether you do or not it it the law to either keep it taxes or SORN the vehicle. source

I searched for answers to this here and found nothing helpful. I have heard from two individuals that in the state of CA vehicles can go through a process, that is lengthy but not expensive, to dissolve the "SALVAGE" reference on the pink slip of the vehicle. Has anyone ever gotten the salvage tag removed, legally, from their pink slip? source

The 4Runner is what I have my eye on these days but the price is what is keeping me away. I am tempted by the Rav4, but am afraid it won't have the height clearance I'm looking for. source
