How do I use a VGA splitter without the image getting dark? I have a standard VGA splitter connected to a nvidia nforce 631i on ubuntu 9.04. However, when the splitter is in use, the image gets dark. If I unplug one cable, it doesn't. this phenomenon is noted elsewhere on the net, but no solution. I think this... If the video card has both dvi and vga outs, you can use the dvi out as a vga source splitter. splitter that will replicate and repeat the signal to the other monitor rather than just passively split it.

How can I use a DVI splitter cable on 1 DVI port? I have a GTX 275 video card with 2 DVI ports. I already run 2 monitors, but I've seen cables that plug into one DVI port and split into 2 more connectors. I have seen splitters on video cards (like the Dell I am on now DVI's. You will need something like port to two monitors. Unfortunately a splitter will just mirror the display on 2 monitors.
