I'm using both Firefox 3.5.2 and Opera 10 and I have this problem with both.
Flash videos stutter visually a LOT. During the short millisecond stutters the UI of the browser freezes a bit.

I think the latest few releases are buggy and need refining as I neverRecently there was a article about Firefox slowing down on videos due to the internal process.

I used some of the recommended settings from other websites and including using Quicktime but for some reason when my videos are done, the video lags a bit and sometimes just a little distorted. (just a small hint of it)

Try KMPlayer and use klite codec Problem Solved TS play to open all video files.....
I guarantee you wont have any lag.
Try vlc + CoreAVC.
