I just got an email with photos of my latest sword made by Michael Pikula. It has a Peteresen type U hilt. Here are the specs he sent:
Length overall: 37.5"
Blade Length: 31.7"
Blade width at guard: 2.3"
Weight : 2lb 8oz
Point Of Balance : 5.7 forward...

Viking swords were a little smaller choice for swords( it will endure shocks and elastic defromation quite well, hence the name spring
there are some functional atlantean....

Ideally, everyone would have a viking-style sword for displays; "Smallsword" or "Backsword....
As long as a sword is about the right length and weight, it's fine to train with.
And durable, rather than being particularly "viking".

Most saxes had evolved into single edged swords by that time.
