Just thought of starting this thread..solely for the guys on visitors visa here.

Think it would be harder to be refused a settlement then apply for a visitor visa.
My husband was refused a visitor visa in Jan 2010, we reapplied in March/April.

Well with Visitor Visa you have to proof your study progress in order to get an extension and after hours, or you won't get your next extension.

For the reason Transpondia mentioned and it enforces the idea that you are a genuine visitor, not just suspicious? You are applying for a visitors visa, the purpose of your visit is tourism.
