It would make her more real than she already is .
I doubt Claire will have a nervous breakdown any time Claire loosing it sometimes in a more evident fashion.

This appearance of Jamie (alone) indicate that Claire eventually does travel forward in time and Jamie is waiting I can understand how Jamie and Claire maintain a youthful way about them.
