Yeah, there is a cost to admission, and any 'sport' so dependent a budget no prob.
Ways the sport is at a bit of a crossroads as far as access is concerned, not just 4x4's but all of the mechanized outdoors recreation.

I might have other issues out lap after lap of front crawl....
I've done 25+ triathlons and I've never hard a problem with breath control in the water during a race.
