Why does heat speed up chemical reactions but weathering is usually slowest in the desert? Heat generally speeds up chemical reactions . But weathering, including chemical weathering, is usually slowest in hot, dry climates. Why ?

So temperature effects don't dominate for weathering in deserts, it's the lack....
Water is far more powerful for weathering than wind, because it can dissolve some rock, can get into rock cracks and freeze, can carry abrasive sand and so on.

What weather services have APIs? Out of the handful or so, which ones are easiest to tie into? Do they use "raw" HTTP requests or web services? Are there wrapper APIs for Python, .NET, Java, etc. Which have you had the best experience with?

I know of 1 company that has used Weather.gov 's in the past .
