I'm going to be installing ARP extended studs soon while my BBK is away getting powder coated. The local speed shop told me I pretty much have to replace the rear wheel bearings to swap out the rear studs since it's 'virtually impossible' to remove the...

Stripping wheel studs? I've now stripped three different wheel studs on my s2000. It seems to happen as I'm trying to take the lug nut off with an electric impact gun - the nut will loosen a bit, then seem to get caught on the threads and get stuck. Or...

Re....
You could always try ARP wheel studs, or just changing the lugs manually.
Re: Stripping wheel studs? Are the studs or lugs you are using a cheaper brand? I ask because and then, as you mentioned they get stripped.

Anyone have studs break off for no apparent reason? Noticed that 2 of mine broke, side by side on the rear of my car. Moser 12 bolt with the long studs, i assume the use of the 2/8 thick wheel spacers could be the culprit, but i never imagined, just glad...

Just longer from moser engineering.
Stock stud size.
1/2" studs should be the minimum.
7/16" or 12mm wheel studs on the drive are even worse.
Are bad.

First and foremost, someone please archive this. I went though quite a bit of research to find all this info and it would be nice to keep it around.
Second, this is not a 'how-to'. If you need a 'how to, you should not be working on this sort of stuff...

1998 Toyota Camry V6 Wheel Studs? My wheel studs keep on breaking. I put the lugs on by hand not by impact wrench, they are torqued down to the correct lbs.and they keep breaking... What should I do to keep it from happening???

Normally you would tighten them down tight but not enough to strip the thread or break the studs.

With using a stock OEM style open lug nut on a Rally wheel, I'd think the 1 1/4" long studs would be fine.
Just going to use.
In that case, you'll need atleast 2 7/8" length.
It neccessary to have longer wheel studs.

What size wheel studs do I need to buy for a 92 dually hub with a 10.25 axle, or are they threaded in studs that I can ( with any luck at all ) remove from the old hub and reuse ?
Thanks-

Just drive them out, and drive them back.
The studs should be reuseable, unless they are damaged.
