How can you run a 32 bit version of explorer on 64 bit windows 7 x64?
This is to allow tortoisehg to work.
I've tried running "c:\windows\syswow64\explorer /separate" and it just starts another version of the 64 bit explorer.

IE not once for 64.
However, I could only install it once.
I guess that means your product key is licensed for Windows key could be used for either version.
District and we kept confusing CD's).

As for Windows 7 x64, if you bought the computer with Windows 7 x86 you will have to purchase the retail version of Windows 7 x64 as you're not entitled for both versions from one OEM license....
For warranty issues).

My MacPro would not read the 64 bit version of Windows 7 but loaded the 32 bit version without hardly any problem.
Is the disk likely to be faulty or is there a problem with 64 bit on some Macs?

When it came time to install Windows stuff, none of the CDs/DVDs.
I'd to recreate my bootcamp partition.
I've installed Win7 64bit on my Mac Pro without any problem .
In fact, Snow Leopard is 64 bit).

Thanks in advance,

Since.
If so, that architecture is 64-bit and you should have no problem installing Windows 7 64-bit.
If your Mac has a 64 bit processor (that is, a core duo or other dual core processor) and you.

Is this true? Is there (until...

Actually you can, and here is the blog post detailing how!
Windows Vista x64 and here is the addendum for Windows 7 x64.
It's a good bet that if 64 Vista isn't supported than 64 7 won't be either.

Assuming a fairly fast CPU (Dual Core 2.9 Ghz) and 4 GB of RAM, will the typical 32 bit app run at : Faster Slower Same speed on the 64 bit Windows 7 than on the 32 bit version?

Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at superuser):
The system itself will have more efficient drivers....
In fact, some applications may run faster.
The difference is probably not significant enough for you to notice, but it is there .
It will run slightly slower as it has to be run through WoW64 emulation .
