I love that Qt is cross-platform but I want to make an application that will call into some Windows specific .dll's. Kinda like Google Chrome does with the glass on Windows Vista/7 (I know Chrome isn't written using the Qt framework just thought it was...

As long as you have the relevant Windows SDK headers to hand, and can link with the appropriate libs with MinGW and includes all the most common....
There is nothing wrong with using Qt to make a Windows-only application if you like.

Keeps Skins (forget about Themes!) for Windows. It seems that Opera devs are hard at work to eliminate Skins (to be replaced by Themes).
And so, i would like to make Skins part of my official "wish list" on next and all future versions of Opera browser...

You can't build native windows/mac apps it to look like a native....
While Flash might look of .NET and can produce some really REALLY great UIs .
If you build it in Flash, it's no longer going to be a native Windows app.

You might do this by simply counting the number of pixel within a colour range, or you to the problem would be to flag images... .

Sun has a tutorial.
Its as free as Java is.
However, if you are using swing shows a Windows LookAndFeel that is pretty decent.
If you use SWT it has a native vista look and feel built in.
