I'm a DSL user and don't want to buy a router as I won't need it in a few months. I know it's possible to plug-in a DSL cable to your modem and get on the internet. I also know it's possible to share that connection with another computer using an Ethernet...

I would use the 1 Vista machine setup to have Internet connection sharing on Windows is unreliable at best.

I have Windows Vista and I have an ISO for Windows 7 Ultimate. Is it possible for the upgrade to complete if I just run the disc as a mounted ISO in my Vista install? Or do I actually need to burn a DVD?

I am planning to run a Windows Vista image on Windows Server 2003. From what I know, the VmWorstation on Windows Server 2003 doesn't support Windows Vista. Any idea on this?

What problems are you having because they shouldn't be related to Workstation'... .
VMWare Workstation 6.0 and above support Vista x86 and x64.
It's running just fine, but no Aero.
Workstation thinks Windows 7 is a Vista install.

Is there any key to directly open a new folder in the Windows Vista? Unlike XP, Vista does not have any quicklaunch button on the side of the window.

I've never really seen Mac OS X in different "flavors" like windows, does it have them? Or does Apple just give you one straight OS, as opposed to microsoft splitting up the OS into different tiers:

OS X Server also has things like an iCal server and ... .
What differentiates them is that OS X Server provides a graphical interface to system services that you don't get in OS X .
There are two, as nagul pointed out.
There are two: OS X and OS X Server.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate. I've been happy with it (except for a few small things). Should I buy Windows 7 and make the upgrade? Thanks, Nestor

Have you noticed substantial differences in website rendering on IE 6 or IE 7 when run on Windows XP versus when run on Windows Vista?

I have an old Vista box sitting around, and I'm thinking of upgrading it to Windows 7 64-bit, as it has 4gb of RAM. Well, I know that there's an "in-place" upgrade from Vista, but does it work from 32-bit to 64-bit?

Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, you can only perform an upgrade to another 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

In XP, control-click on the "up folder" icon opens the parent folder in a new Window .
After much searching, I find no way to do this in Vista. It's easy to get to the parent folder, but not in a new window.
