Why do they call wisdom teeth "wisdom teeth"?

They call your third molars "wisdom teeth" because they come in when you're older or "wiser".
The rest of your adult teeth come in usually before you're 14.

Even after they erupt wisdom teeth can still cause problems and you might have to get them pulled, they're really huge teeth that a lot of people just can't fit in their mouths which is why so many see your dentist and find out.

Had wisdom teeth out today at 8:30. My appointment was for 8:30 am. Probably had me under by 9:00.
Bottoms were embedded in bone, so they had to knock me out. Now my face hurts and the world tastes like rust.
Looks like I'll be bored and hanging around...

That is in bad shape so they have to remove that plus all my wisdom teeth.
