Gents,
I'm currently on a Non_Immigrant Ed Visa at Walen School which I picked up in Singapore in January this year.
I believe I have a couple of options, I will be 50 in June and returning to the UK for a week or 2.
I have 2 kids with my Thai girlfriend...

One drawback is work is prohibited, so no work permit if your ever the wrong side of the bar.
Both to qualify and to extend annually incountry.
The retirement visa is the easiest visa out there, once your 50 of course.

Some differences, a Student visa allows you to work but only part-time(20hrs/week).
