If you want to run ISA, you should install Windows Server 2003 on the server you want to use as a firewall; otherwise, you'll have to go to the next-generation firewall... .
ISA Server 2006 can only run on Windows Server 2003 x86, not even 2008 x86 would do .

Perhaps I'm missing a major point of the x64 platform here, but my perception was that x64 applications were only better performing than x86 versions (on an x64 OS and hardware, obviously) when large amounts of memory, large pointers, or other demanding...

For many (with the drivers).
Improvement relates mostly to usage of 64-bit integers (around 4 times as fast in an x64 build on my machine present in CPUs supporting x64, such as SSE2, &c.; this can lead to more optimized code.

When I use the Web Platform installer on Vista x64 Business it doesn't list any of the applications (such as DotNetNuke or SubText).
Has anyone got it to work on Vista 64?

The application catalog is downloaded from the web the list of applications .
It should work with Vista x64 Business edition.

I have Windows 7 x64 (I wanted more than 4GB of RAM), and I'm not talking about drivers here - I'm talking about installable applications.
If a vendor offers both an x86 and x64 version of their application, when should I consider the x64 version? Should...

Software choose to install the x64 version if available.
For X64 should have better performance since they would not require an emulation layer.

Hey Everyone,
I have a legacy application Agilent Genesys 2004.7 which refuses to run under x64 Windows 7. The licensing scheme uses a Hasp Key (formerly Aladdin) to authorize the machine. The key has both 64 and 32 bit drivers, and is showing up properly...

This means that the x64 driver is not present.
But when I start this from within MSAccess the driver does noe appear .
