Suggestions? I especially love books and movies about abandoned asylums and hospitals, but anything abandoned is good. A long time ago I read the book Project 17 about an abandoned asylum and it was so good.

There are a few ways you could implement it however:
If you are on a POSIX platform with support for pthread_mutexattr_setrobust_np, edit boost/interprocess/sync/posix/thread_helpers... .
Unfortunately, this isn't supported by the boost::interprocess API as-is.

Have you ever explored somewhere abandoned, ie an old cinema or an old factory that has perhaps given you the creeps?
