I've got windows Vista installed inside Virtual Box on my Mac OS partition. I've also got it installed under boot camp and I occasionally boot to it when I want to run windows with better performance and I don't need to run any mac apps. Unfortunately...

I have a MacBook set up to boot into either Snow Leopard....
Desktop and VMWare Fusion.
On the Boot Camp partition also runs within Parallels Desktop.

I'd to be better at resource management than Parallels.
That's because Civilization 4 doesn't really work as smoothly under VMware Fusion .

Everytime i try to download the boot camp 4.0 windows software from the new boot camp assistant via Lion - it says "can't install Windows Support software because it is not currently available from the software update server"

So, I thought give Windows 7 a shot on my iMac 20" running Snow Leopard. Installation went well, it is running without any problems. After the installation, some very strange problems occur:

Snow leopard has an issue when it auto-mounts NTFS drives about 1/2 of the time on boot: just open a terminal, type:
sudo pico /etc/fstab
if there is data already in this file DO.
Caused the problem.

I have some astronomy-related software that only runs on windows. preferrably i will run this software under VirtualBox or VMware, but there is some indication that it will not run properly under a VM, and so i may need to use Boot Camp instead.

Both these VMs allow you to select your Boot for the ....
Then install a VM like Fusion or Parallels.
And so in Boot Camp.
I was worried about this is that the HAL is different between Boot Camp and VMWare, etc.
