You should probably put a robots.txt file in your backup site and tell robots not to crawl and current site that you could redirect....
You can always use robot.txt on backup.* site to disallow google to index it.

In real development terms - A SharePoint Application is an IIS site with nothing configured, while the site collection is the initial base configuration of the IIS App, sites in the site collections better.

Peer1 is a bit expensive but offers an excellent support... .
It's much better to give it up to somebody else to deal with the bandwidth and SLAs .
I've tried hosting customer stuff -- you can't charge them enough to deal with the pain .

I Produced a page which I have no intention to let Search Engines find and claw it. The advisable solution is robot.txt. But it is not applicable in my situation.
So I isolated this page from my site by clearing all links from other pages to this page...

If you have outbound links on this "isolated" page then your page... .
It may make it harder to find, but it is still possible a crawler may happen across it .
If it is on the internet and not restricted, it will be found .

You should find a few good tutorials in Google for those .
I would suggest writing your own using Python with the Scrapy and either lxml or BeautifulSoup packages .
