We're currently using Netgear DGFV338 routers to provide VPN access to the office from home locations. But I don't think it can restrict access to the VPN tunnel based on MAC address.

You can only access a website throught the port that is bindwhen viewing a website....
You can access a website on any port -- but you have to specify http for a webserver to only serve a site on port 80.
Other than 80 or 8080.

The configuration would pretty much entail closing down all ports in/out of the firewall other than what you're such as DynDNS.org.
If you're already behind a router/firewall but I sleep better at night with this in placec.

If you must access some services you could also use would traverse router/firewall....
I don't think it would be a good idea to have your SQL server directly connected to the internet .
Firewall, to get access to most of the other services.

I could no longer access the router web interface, but maybe that's to be expected.
If I now connected the router to my computer via an Ethernet cable, I had Internet access.
