This may be a strange question, but a friend of mine (an acer fan) assured me that Apple uses Acer to for their display. I have not been able to confirm (or deny) this assertion? Does somebody here know one way or the other?

I know LG makes the panel in the Cinema Displays as well... .
I've never heard of Acer making panels for Apple either.
Just checked my 15" unibody and it's an LG panel.. .
Not seen any manufactured by Acer, but it's certainly not impossible.

Take out the battery and smack the power button a few times .
What I did was keep windows on without power saving anything, and let the battery completely die. .
I think it may have to do with the battery memory .
This happened to me too once or twice..

Does anybody know if I can run Linux on an Acer Aspire One? I see from they shipped a version of it with Linux but was wondering if I can switch from Windows XP to any form of Linux?

Then run the Acer Recovery Management utility again.

The manual for your computer or the motherboard may give you information... .
Could be many things but that'd be my first intuition .
Or could be a problem with the video card, bad or not seated .
Might be a problem with the memory, maybe bad or not seated correctly .

If you just want to enter into BIOS, why not remove the CMOS battery, set the jumper setting to clear and then again replace the CMOS... .
It's a longshot, but cannot hurt.
For starters (see my comment) try some of these backdoor passwords for phoenix bios .
